FAQ about Gemini Notebook for nonprofits

What does the free version of Gemini Notebook allow?

Since 2 September 2026 Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) uses compute-based usage limits. The free plan is described as Standard limits, and the quota refreshes every 5 hours until the weekly limit is reached. Google AI Plus gives twice the standard limits, AI Pro four times, and AI Ultra 5 or 20 times the AI Pro level.

How many notebooks and sources can a free user create?

The upgrade page still lists 100 notebooks per user and 50 sources per notebook for the Standard plan, together with 50 chats a day, 3 audio overviews a day, 3 video overviews a day and 10 deep research queries a month. That table is labelled subject to change, and the newer usage-limits page describes the allowance as compute-based, so confirm the current figure inside the app before relying on a specific number.

Do nonprofits get Gemini Notebook at no cost?

Yes. The $0 Workspace for Nonprofits plan includes Gemini Notebook with Summaries, Audio Overviews and Q&A, plus Gemini Notebook features such as Mind Maps and Discover Sources. Higher limits and advanced features such as customization and analytics are not available on that plan.

Is notebook data used to train Google's models?

No, unless you provide feedback. Google states that data is protected and is not used to train Gemini Notebook unless feedback is given, and that when feedback is shared the full context of that interaction, including queries, uploads and responses, may be reviewed.

Is there a watermark on free outputs?

Watermark removal is listed as unavailable on the Standard plan and available on paid plans, with an automatic visible watermark for users in India, South Korea and Vietnam. All outputs generated with Veo, Omni or Nano Banana include invisible SynthID watermarking.
